Steps getting started with Plex

• Create a Plex account
• Send your username/email for you new account to John
• Check your email for an invitation, accept the invitation
• Download and install the Plex app for your device (TV, AppleTV, phone, tablet, etc.)
• Open the Plex app and sign in with your Plex account

Finding & Pinning Johns Media Servers

• On the left-hand navigation menu of the Plex app, scroll down and click on More....
• You will see both Johns server name and any other shared servers.
• Click on Johns server name, and you will see the media libraries he has shared with you (e.g., Movies, TV Shows).
• Hover over the individual library folders and click the three dots (More Actions) menu.
• Select Pin to Sidebar to make them easily accessible on your main home screen.

Cleaning uo the menu (Optional)

Plex includes ad-supported free content by default. To remove those items and keep your menu clean:

• In the left-hand menu, identify default items you don’t use (such as Plex TV, Movies & Shows, Podcasts, or TIDAL).
• Hover over the item and click the three dots icon.
• Select Unpin from Sidebar.
• To hide other unwanted hubs globally, go to the top right of your screen and click your Profile Picture > Account > Online Media Sources.
• Toggle off any categories you do not want to see anywhere in your Plex interface and click Save Changes.

Requesting Movies and TV shows

Use your plex account to log into the request server at Request

• Once you are logged in, you can request movies/TVs by searching for the title and clicking the request button.
• Once your request is approved it will be downloaded and automatically added to the plex library.
